OK folks. I have a White's XLT that I like very much (on dry land). However, on the sandy beaches of NC there is a lot of black sand that gives it a fit. I'm looking at the White's Surfmaster PI. It's in my price range (barely) and it appears to be a good machine. I realize that with a PI machine I'll be digging up all kinds of junk along with the good stuff. (I hope there is some good stuff.) ::) Also the PI will allow me to get into the surf and maybe find more jewerly. Any body had any good or bad experiences with the Surfmaster PI?

:D OK, now I've done it. I just ordered my Surfmaster PI Pro from Kellyco. (They were having a sale.) Now All I've got to do is get to the beach.

;D
I wonder how long I can keep this from my wife?

If she is like mine, not very long.............but honey.......

The PI Pro is a deep detector alright but it still acts funny in the black sands as do all detectors. You can turn down the pulse and it will work fine on the dry or in the water where you can run it normally. These machines excel where the sand can bury things deep.

I'd like to hear from the guys that buy the new Beach Hunter ID 300.

Good Luck..........

Can't pay much. I'm broke now. (Besides, I've got to figure out how I'm going to buy that new scoop.)

The Garrett LS Infinium handles black sand very well. It was developed to handle the Australian outback which has some of the harshest soil on the planet and so far I haven't run into any areas that I can't run mine

Minelab Excal or Excal II. Whites PI Pro or Whites Beach Hunter.

Get the best you can afford and it will pay for itself quicker. I got a Minelab EXP II a little over two years ago and could have paid for it by now in jewelry finds, only 4 items, not the appraisals but what I could actually expect to get for them.
