went for a day out to the Ancient fishing port of Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast

Whitby skyline is dominated by the ruins of the old Abbey(St Hilda's)657ad, from the old town of Whitby the 199 steps leads to the old Church of St Marys.
This was the place that inspired Bram Stoker to write his world famous novel Dracula, "
Quote from the book...But, strangest of all, the very instant the shore was touched, an immense dog sprang up on deck from below.....
and running forward, jumped from the bow on to the sand.
Making straight for the steep cliff, were the churchyard hangs over the laneway to the east pier....it disappeared in the darkness."
from Dracula by Bram Stoker, 1897
I also visited the Lifeboat Museum, and took some pictures of memorabilia, anyway I hope you like the pictures and the short story
