Detector(s) used
Garrett XL200, Whites classic 2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
so I just picked up a classic 2 with an 8" coil. good shape for $25. it works, powers up fine, discriminates ok and will detect coins about 4 inches max and scrap metals 5" unless its large. is this normal? im new to this and I know bigger coils go deeper but I was expecting a little more from the 8" coil

please help

that being said... anyone have a 10" or larger whites 6.59khz coil?

anyone?

Your Classic II should be able to air test coins at least 8" from the coil. If not, It needs to be serviced. Don't spend extra money on a larger coil until your detector is working properly.

Thanks for your help...I'll get it checked

Don't know about the C 2 but I used a Classic 3 for many years & 4-6 inches is about right in Common Soil Conditions esp,on Quarters & Silver Dimes.
but
For 25 Bucks That,s good enough for me.

p.s. thats using the 9 inch Blueray or Bluemax Coil , can not recall the exact name.
