I realize this is an old post. However, I need some info on the machine if anyone owns/owned one. I noticed it has a Black Sand setting which tells me it must be ok for saltwater use. I will assume the control box cannot be submerged and that it is a multi-frequency machine. A friend of mine just inherited one, almost brand new, and would like to hunt saltwater beaches with it. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks

As far as I can find, it's single frequency, 8khz, and only the coil is waterproof. Like many machines out there with a 'Beach' setting, I don't think it would end up being a great salt water machine.
