Ok I had an xlt years back, I know this machine is light years ahead of this ,but I am having a hard time with this machine,it probably doesn't help that my yard where I live now has a ton of trash, but I'm looking for any help I can get?

Brian what are you having trouble with , settings ? What to do with a lot of trash ?
Kinda give us a head up if you can on what you need to know .

Having a hard time pinpointing, plus seems like I get a lot of false signals, maybe sweeping to fast?I'm a rookie here, I was really dialed into the XLT but that was a few years ago and the ground I'm hunting now it really trashy, thinking maybe thats part of my problem? Not sure though. Any advice would be great!...B...

I was at the White's factory a couple of weeks ago and I spoke to Mary in customer service. They seem VERY customer-oriented. Why don't you give her a call and explain your problems.

Phone us at: 1-800-547-6911 or direct to the factory at 1-541-367-6121

I doubt you'll tell her anything she hasn't heard before and I'm pretty sure you'll get the answers you're looking for.

Chuck I talked to her last week and she was very helpful, but she's on vaction this weeek(well deserved I'm sure) so I'm still playing with this machine, maybe this is more machine than I need!

OK, then, just stay with it and try it away from your yard in a place that you know has less trash. I doubt that it is more machine than you need. After I visited the factory I started regretting buying my AT-Pro a couple of months ago. I think you've got a great machine and if I'd visited them first that's the one that would be in my shop. I thought my AT-Pro's pinpointer was off, too, but after enough hours on it, it began to make more sense to me. We're all beginners again when we buy a new machine, so give it a chance.

One more thought. Did you buy it from a reputable dealer? I understand that there are a bunch of counterfeit clones floating around out there, especially on auction websites. I can only imagine the problems with those.

Good luck.

You can get a smaller coil for better pinpointing. I hear the eclipse 950 works better than the D2 coil, and its better in high trash.
I have found i cant pinpoint deep targs good, until i dig the nearby trash out of the way.
You need to find the right ground filter to run in, depends on your ground mineralization. i run 5khz band alot, but im low min.
Make sure you ground balance properly. Then swing low and slow.
There are video in whites forum on how to ground balance properly, etc. Ground balancing pulls your settings together.
Seems like backing down on discrimination helps rid of some of the falsing, but might experience some loss of depth.
Im still trying to figure out my v3i, hope this helps some.
