Well, this may cause a lot of folks to 'dislike' me more than 'like' me. I'm not a cat lover! I'm more a 'dog lover'. I've never cared for cats. I don't hate them; don't despise them. My son has one, my grandson has one, and a close friend that lives close has one. The close friend also feeds two other cats that are from next door. So that's 5 cats within the proximity of our front door. Two of them live in the house with us. When I get up in the morning, I put out food for my grandson's dog and cat, and my son's cat. My dog doesn't seem to want to eat until around late morning or early afternoon. I don't mistreat cats! When I'm outside and the two neighbors' cats are around, I reach down and pat/rub them and talk to them some. If I'm around the friend's cat, I'll do the same with it. Inside the house, I talk to 'our' 2 cats and pet them. But, personally, I wouldn't have a cat for a pet.
I do have a new hammock! Its' a free standing one; but hasn't been assembled yet. The backyard if a 'disaster' area as far as grass is concerned. The neighbor behind us had a huge old cottonwood tree in his backyard close to the fence. The root system was enormous. The 'stick-ups' from it overtook the backyard while my daughter and son-in-law were not able to take care of it, both physically and financially. When I moved into the house with them in 2010, the backyard was a 'jungle'. The stickups were covering about 70% of the yard and some were about 5 feet tall. My health (COPD) was just beginning to deteriorate at that time. I hired a couple of men that do odd jobs and yard work to come help get the yard cleared. The next year, the stickups started again; but my son and I worked and kept them under control. Finally last year, we dug down far enough to cut the roots and 'doctor' them with a root killer. Also the neighbor cut down the old cottonwood tree. Now the yard is almost bare of grass, with just some weeds that we are keeping down. I have plans for sodding the yard as soon as I can do so. In the meantime, I discovered a new wooden-framed hammock on a close-out sale a couple of months ago, and just couldn't resist it! It's sitting in the garage, still boxed until I can get the backyard in better shape.
