I got out for a bit today and hunted an older house site and found this. Plinking pennies with a .22 must have been popular back in the day and I’ve found several over the years. When I washed this one up a bit I was surprised at seeing the 1909 date and immediately thought, oh no! But closer observation didn’t reveal an S under the date, so alls good. [emoji16]

probably not me. I chose to mostly use dimes as they were smaller. Though I have shot a few Lincoln's as well

Very interesting find. I think one of the first coins I found was in my backyard. I found a memorial with a bb gun shot. I told my uncle about it and he said thats where he shot his bb gun at things as a kid. I don't know whether I still have it or not. Should have kept it.

I've got an Indian that was shot but it didn't go through. Pretty cool to find those.

Weird fact about the night Lincoln was shot in Ford's Theater.
His friends an army officer and his wife were Lincolns guests and were sitting next to him when Booth shot Lincoln. The army officer was sent to Germany as an ambassador and eventually went crazy and shot his wife in the head. He was sent to a mental asylum where he died several years later.
In the early 1950s him and his wife's body was dug up and discarded by the owner of the cemetery. Their bones were then thrown into a river. It's not clear why they were discarded in such a manner.
There's enough strangeness about Lincolns assassination to fill a book.
