Why don't more detectors have...

Why don't more detectors have customizable tone settings or adjustable tone break? I really hate watching the VDI constantly when I'm looking for something particular...like Nickels for instance. I would expect those to be features in high demand.

They gotta hold something back on cheaper detectors to make you wanna buy the more expensive one.

If they ever come out with a detector that talks and says what the item is (by all indications ) I wouldn’t want anything to do with it. I used to be into astronomy and it was fun using star atlases and finding things of interest. I lost interest when they started selling “ go to” motorized telescopes that found everything for you. Took all the mystique and excitement right out of the pursuit.
I hope the same doesn’t happen with metal detecting.
