I'm hunting a beach near St. Augustine FL.

This is the second hunk of copper. (upper right)

It's thin, and there is a semi rounded portion that possibly may have had a bolt, screw or nail in it.

The first one was smaller and I thought it might be a copper jacket from a bullet, but this one is too big.

The oval emblem is FOSSIL, from a purse or something.

Copper was once used to sheath wooden hulls. Maybe related to your finds.

Two words: Ship Wreck

GIB,

I'd go with sheathing from an old vessel also.....now go and find the cargo of gold that was on it....:laughing7:

I think some of these type finds are very interesting.....If these little pieces could only talk......

Very nice pice of hull sheathing! Depending on it's make-up, it could be assigned a general date period! I don't remember the dates, but they were for lead, copper mix, pure copper, and all were old!

Besides the old looking copper they look like my finds and don't you just hate those funky zincs! :laughing7:
