Got about twenty pounds to headoff this AM and it's cold... anyone wanna help? I can head about a hunnert pounds in an hour, but by jingo, it's in the mid thirties here this morning. I HATE being cold, and these puppies have been iced overnight so my hands are gonna freeze. They will, however, taste mighty good later. NO better shrimp in the world than that which comes off the coast of Jawja...

If I was nearby I would help ya... Would love some fresh shrimp.

Are you sure you're not Forrest Gump's buddy :dontknow: Freeze them up ASAP, then make shrimp cocktail, shrimp gumbo, shrimp in garlic sauce... I think you get the picture :laughing7:

If we lived down there I'd be one of your best customers.
What guys like you should do is figure ways to fast ship your shrimp.

Once you got a few buyers the list would grow fast.
Everybody wants those nice big wild quality shrimp but they're also aware of the risks if they're not properly handled.

There are people in Alaska doing this now with wild Sockeye salmon (very expensive). They catch, fillet, freeze, vacuum pack, and air ship the fish fast. I've had it and after eating their salmon one can't stand the half spoiled junk sold in grocery stores.

Got 'em all done and in the freezer.

Spart, I know 'bout as many ways to prepare them as Bubba... they had their heads pinched off, washed three times so the water ran clean, then bagged and frozen...

Badger... I used "to shrimp"... I KNOW how to keep the product fresh and clean. My back is broke at the moment, so I can't throw a net. I do, however, know all these boys that are bringing them in. So I'm getting premium product, day of catch... at a MUCH reduced price than most pay. I'd go get my own, but my back is broke right now....

Helped the ole gurl at the dock head off about a hunnert pounds this morning before the sinks were clear so I could head my own... those were larger than what was caught yesterday... but a pound of shrimp is a pound of shrimp... and the smaller ones have a better texture and taste than the bigger ones... IMHO.

Got seven quart bags full... in the freezer now. White shrimp you lose about 40% when you head them, so say you get six pounds of tails outta ten pounds when they are "head on" when you head 'em off. Brown shrimp you lose about 30%... but I think Brownies taste better. NO! That is NOT a reference to small girls!

Y'all have a good 'un.
