I don't think so, the 3,........ I have found on old beach's have been just like High K gold. And I have dug gold that was stained dark, and even a Light black crust. One was 9k and the others 10k, never from 14k up..other then the the rear joint.

Thanks OBN. I found a large encrusted silver ring and at first while cleaning it the ring was not looking like silver but after 4 hours of Hot peroxide soaking, removing crust and polishing the silver finally showed its true color.

Platinum is a "Noble" metal....one that resists corrosion and oxidation.
 

I found old platinum ... they lose only a little shine, they do not oxidize.
