Beauty of a day. My first William III, and looks to be the 1698 half penny, but of course can’t be sure with this level of wear. I also can’t tell if the 1801 is one of the fractional errors, but a fun find regardless. I love the dandy and barrel tap.

Ran into some cows, and after a little patience got to make friends with one. She ended up getting a good scratching and some ticks removed. Poor little heart. But she went from skittish to practically hugging me like a labrador by the time I left…I don’t think she’d ever been pet before.

Incredible, generous, history-loving land owners. I'm grateful.

Cheers, HH out there

Ummmmmm. Hamburger! Unless you make it an indoor pet.

She'll make a fine dairy cow. I've drawn the line at 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 5 chickens.

Awesome hunt Ken! I want one of those barrel taps bad. Killer William III and LC too. I've detected with inquisitive cows and horses... They'll get close and I have to make sure my coil doesn't get stepped on. Ha.

Great W3! Those are special coppers on our side of the pond. Congrats

Excellent finds! Congratulations!

Great finds Ken. That W3 is something I've never found. It's great that the property owners have an appreciation for what you do. And as an animal lover congrats on making a friend. I think some people believe certain animals are just mindless and dumb. My grandfather had a 500 acre farm and was a warden. I grew up with skunks, raccoons and ever a silver fox that lived inside their farmhouse when they were healing from injuries. Animals are a lot smarter than most realize and they appreciate a little attention. Pretty sure you just made a lifelong friend.

Congrats on making some excellent finds and a new friend!!

Thanks Brad. The barrel tap is by far the largest I've found. Hoping you unearth yours (and an even better one) soon!

Appreciate it, Steve! It may be battered but it is great history.

Excellent finds! Congratulations!

Thank you Abe. The animal part is tough, as I was a vegetarian for 7 years. Now we only buy local meat from folks we know...still try to stay mindful

Congrats on some nice stuff
Preciate it, Art!

: ) thanks Jeff

Always room for one more!

NOoooooo! My wife wants an entire farm. I see large animals as a reverse ATM!

sure no bull in this post____all great digs:laughing7::icon_thumright:

Love that LC ZK, beats my oldest by 30 years. Looks like you eked out a few keepers during the hunt. I never knew that you were a cow whisperer. :tongue3:

good post, nice finds. I've not got an IDable W3 either.

Thanks Kilo Echo. There's a reason turn of the century largies are hard to find out there: folks dropped this stuff out of shock when the canals opened up the west and they heard there were places to farm that had more dirt than rocks, weren't on 30 degree slopes, and didn't have snow from September to June.

good post, nice finds. I've not got an IDable W3 either.
Thanks Rick. I don't expect to find another 'round these parts, but even less hope of finding something readable. Here's to both of us being pleasantly surprised one day. :icon_thumright:

NICE FINDS ...
