William III Halfpenny, Mass Volunteer Militia Cuff Button

I’d like to know the year but I believe all the W3’s are 1600’s? The reverse is blank. This is my third MA militia button from this field but this one is in the worst condition.

Here ya go buddy! Had to dig em out, and realized one had oxidized quite a bit. The one in the middle was in sandier soil and has nice detail but no gilt.

The only half pennies I find are severely corroded zincolns. Nice 300+ yo coin.

Thanks Silvermonkey! Frustrating indeed. I really wanted to be able to add one to the 1600’s bin. The best thing about the find is that it opens that area of the field to the potential for good future finds. I was ready to give up on it. Prior to that, this 1/3 of the field yielded nothing pre 1900. It was still probably not a high use area compared to the other 2/3, but now it’s all in play.

We are definitely fortunate and should remember that when finds seem slim to us, relatively speaking, we are lucky that every plug may hide something awesome.
