williams painting

I got this oil painting signed "Williams" and it has a certificate saying it was purchased in 1978 by someone. Any idea of the value and I would be willing to sell it. Please help.

"Williams" has to be one of the most common names in the US. No other info ? First name or anything ? You'll likely need to have it appraised by an expert if you want to know the real value. It's a nice pic. Very peaceful setting. The White Birch trees remind me of my old home in New Hampshire.
