yesterday here in California felt like the 2nd coming. 65 mph winds, no power and my roof is ruined. In my 57 years i have never seen wind circle in all directions. Well time for work with no sleep. Contractor says i need a new roof :-\

Although I'm probably the last person on this planet you would even consider taking advise from, I'll give you some anyway :tongue3:

Remember, do not use parts of the house, or furniture to keep that fire going

Unfortunately you'll just have to ride out Mother Natures little tantrum... :help: Good luck :coffee2:

Well, since you're open to suggestions here's another one :laughing7:

If your roof gets really bad, you may want to consider installing a skylight instead of a full roof repair :tongue3:

This way you get get natural sunlight and use the sun for heating. That will reduce your electric bill

Re: wind,no power and fire

sorry to hear you got hit so hard. hope you have insurance with a co. that won't argue with you. we had an "inland hurricane" a few yrs back & lots of people had to fight cuz they weren't insured for hurricanes. (SE MO. is not prone to hurricanes)
stay safe. glad you all made it through.

Re: wind,no power and fire

we got strong winds up here too aa. A guy I work with had his street blocked by a downed tree. It wasn't as bad as you had it though. I heard LA had 93 mph winds. Funny part is, it wasn't a storm, no clouds at all, just strong wind.

Super AA be careful with that fire if you haven't cleaned the flue in a while....I've seen chimney fires....not nice. Keep a great big box of baking soda and a fire extinguisher near by that you can easily get to. That much wind can push any sparks right back on top of your roof so I hope you have a good screen on your chimney. Hope they fix your power soon.
thanks for the advice

there goes my new metal detector :'(
