Wing Dam

Has anyone ever built a small wing dam? I don't mean stacking a couple rocks to redirect the water into a sluice I'm talking about a real wing dam. If so how? Was it effective? Pictures? I was reading about them and haven't ever seen anything posted on here about anyone using one to get down to bedrock.

They work great in swift water as you enter and exit. Just keep your head down though as swift currents will rip your facemask off and adios downstream. Mini bungees fix the problem and you then get to wear MUCH less weight on your back and help you save your back from destruction. Sure beats my old 3 belt system, 100+lbs for 6-7 hours a day for 9+ months a year leaves damage to your spine-John
