My first job (in 1962) was to sell Grolier Encyclopedias door -to-door in the LA area.
I still remember a snarly comment I would make when I saw I was losing a sale: "These books are like roadmaps for your children. If they're not going anywhere, you don't need them. "
I wonder if your item is a page from one of those books.
