Hello,
I'm done for the year as it is now full winter mode here in the center of Canada.
When things get busy during the season, I pile up trays of goodies with the site location marked to clean during the winter months.
One site that contained many early 1800's artifacts, including a 1826 Mexican 8 real, (rare for this locale) and a couple of civil war era gold eagle two-piece buttons.
I had a bunch of tombac buttons to clean and noticed this thicker pewter-like button. It was a challenge to clean but I had a feeling something might appear on the face.
Sure enough, there was something........

Probably not rare for you guys south of the border.
I'm a button fanatic and had I thought there would be chance of finding one of these here, it would have been on my list.
Now I can cross that one off!
The back mark is not visible but I can try cleaning it a bit more if need be.

I'm sure this button would also pop up for some of you Eastern Canadian hunters but here in Manitoba, totally unexpected!
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Dave.
