So I am driving down a dirt road in the desert near a ghost town. I see a gent out in the desert. I stop walk out to see if he is swinging. He is, no great finds though. So I decide to walk around, no detector just checking out the area. I am constantly looking down and I spot a coin right on the sand. It is a 1914 s Barber in perfect condition. I call him over to show him and have him run his detector over the area to no avail. Good day.

:notworthy: Congrats! Super find! :notworthy:

I'll bet the other guy wondered where the wizard of the desert came from, lol :laughing7: - really cool to find a good old Barber just by eyeballing the ground! My first silver ever was also an eyeball discovery on a day I didn't have my detector; it was at a field I'd detected before - a dusty old Peace silver dollar lying flat on top of the ground. Laughed and cried both! Have Fun! :icon_thumright: Andi

Congrats on the barber. Tough to find for sure.

Funny story.

Congratulations on the find!

take em as they come, never argue with the finds

Awesome find and story! Congrats!

That barber looks like it would be in good shape if it wasn't so dirty.

I found a 1930s mercury dime on top of the ground as a kid and 3 years ago found a smooth standing liberty quarter.
