I was wandering if any one knew about a defect in the 2004 Wisconsin Quarters.
I recieved a e-mail about certain ones having a defect in them and would like to know what it is and how to identify them.
Any help would be appreciated.

There are in fact two varieties of defect, both involving an extra leaf on the corn stalk.

Essentially, an extra leaf appears on the coins. (Not a double die.) There are two different versions; one extra leaf is lower than the other extra leaf and there is only one extra leaf per error coin (if my memory serves me).

There was speculation that a mint employee carved the extra leaves in a couple of hubs to create the error.

Also these "errors" were only on the Denver mint coins and have been found mainly in the SW.
