Wolf's Head Whatsit!

I found this in my side field. There was a house there in the early to mid 1800s. The figure is a wolf's head which is unfortunately bent. I thought it was a pipe tamper but I'm not really sure. Any ideas?

I'm not seeing a wolf's head. Is this one of those objects that you have to stare at just right to see it or am I nuts or both? M nty

I see the wolfs head (or maybe a fox head).

Possible towel hanger? Coat canger? Hard to see either with those pointy ears sticking up...

The stem looks like a door stop...

You're nuts! I think Montana is right in it being a fox. The other eye and ear is bent over the back. Thanks for the diagram Montana!

A friend suggested a decorative buggy mount...possibly a rein guide of sorts...

I'm still leaning towards a curtain tie back holder

I always thought mine was a drawer pull but I'm beginning to wonder now, as yours is a Fox it could indicate a Hunts related item which I would expect to see outside......
