Woman arrested in connection with theft of 5-ton steel coil

HERMITAGE, Pa.— A Beaver County woman has been arrested in connection with the theft of a 5-ton steel coil and two boxes of copper fittings from Chambers Steel, police said this morning.

North Sewickley police stopped Linda Lee Boots, of Koppel, Pa., in a pickup truck around 3 a.m. Thursday. The right side of the bed was crushed, and the rear tires were flat due to the weight of the steel.

Boots, 40, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. The truck and stolen property were impounded.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTVM) - A security guard in Augusta, Georgia has been killed in connection with the theft of some copper.

The guard, who's name hasn't been released, was working at a re-cycling plant when he was shot and killed.

Augusta police investigators say whoever killed him did it to steal a large bale of scrap copper. Authorities say the copper bale is worth about $12,000.
