Detecting by myself with Dad plotting again & clearing wood. 3 hours in the woods feels like 5 in a muddy field, dug close to 100 cartridges amoungst the roots :P

Land-magnet did well today, he followed his nose into the wood about 100 yards & found a large Roman Coin, so proves it continues from the edge. Also a mystery Iron Age artefact which looks to be a crude terret ring :o We all get excited about Iron Age, now that we have a coin & this 8)

Got 5 Roman Coins, one very nice one I scanned, as it didn't picture well - Follis of Constantine I.
1697 Sixpence - but its a Norwich mint which I need for the collection ;D

Couple of bird rings, one said 'Inform Brit. Museum', which I found funny - I have reported via the website.

Large broken Crotal Bell & shoe buckle (circa 1750s)

Amazing woods finds, they look in better nick than from ploughed land :icon_thumleft:

a good silver! congrats. :headbang:

Good finds Cru! As I mentioned once, I almost never search the woods in England anymore, just
too much junk. But of course if it was a roman villa or something like that I would also take the
time to search it, first removing the junk and shells... But I have yet to find one coin in any woods.

That was the norm for me, if you see our last post I got a Celtic Bronze :o This is the only wood I have found anything older than 1900ish.

Yes I saw the Bronze Celtic, they are pretty rare for sure. Anyway the woods are good ones, I think it will
be some time before you are done there. Most of the woods where I would like to search are filled up with
the farmers birds, and we are not allowed even to come close to them.

Woods-Fields everywhere it seems with the finds I see. :laughing9: I'll be up all night repling to you guy's! :o :D :notworthy:
Take Care!
Pete

strange ...i got a decent coin of constantine I .yesterday but think i will skip the woods ...nice to walk around in though......actually verona is surrounded by hills and trees to one side and there was a lot of ancient activity but i bet finding anything is near impossible.

Amazing finds I love that six pence. :icon_thumright:

This was full of rearing cages, but the new owners took them out last year, so full of chicken wire & other crap, but at least we are allowed in.

im gonna put a contract on you...lol...well done pal

That is amazing you can go out and dig Roman coins like that.
I love looking at you guys stuff.

Thanks everyone, can't wait to get on the field next to the wood :o

Nice woods hunt, harder work for sure. :icon_thumright:
How much better do the bronzes hold up in the woods over the fields?
