Woods hunt i.d. Help

Will also be posting this in the what is it forum, did a quick woods hunt and didn't get many signals. All 3 shot gun shells were around the big tree as well as the two bent nail things. I dig everything when I hunt these woods because iv found the most random odds and ends that don't show up well. So I also found a lot of fence wire and cans. Found the airsoft magazine in the creek and then back up on top of a hill 8 inches in the ground I found the plate thing, it looked to be brass at first but now looks aluminum, it has a "49" stamped in the top right corner, an R just left of center, and a G just right of center. There are 3 small holes around an indent in the center and a punch out on one side. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Congrats on getting out,
I was thinking that someone used that plate for target practice, but the holes are too clean and evenly spaced.
