I found my first flattened penny. It's got a Wooly Mammoth on the front & Inner Space Cavern, Georgetown Texas on the back.
I went to a city park that I used to live near in the early 70's and practically lived in for years since the pool was there and it was next to my high school where we'd go out into the park every morning and, um, enjoy nature
Also played football & baseball at the fields on one end in organized leagues so I was hoping for some old coins.
One of Abe Lincoln's relatives is buried in the park and I found tons of lincolns but alas no wheats. There are only two flat stones and they weren't where I thought I'd remembered. Of course I didn't MD anywhere near them although I walked by
There were tons of pull tabs, old kind and new everywhere. I'm pretty sure the parks been hunted over the years and even saw some signs of recent digging here & there. Got off to a good start and found 2 dimes straight off in the playground. then I headed to all the picnic tables, basket ball court and all over through the woods including all the tables we visited back in high school. There was a drunk bum there going thru the trash, screaming, growling and yelling "where are my effing glasses arrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhh" I briefly thought about offering my assistance but thought better of it and gave him a wide berth while hanging onto my lesche, just in case.
It was 105 out but wasn't too bad at all since there were trees everywhere, didn't even need my sunglasses, it felt like a cool 95 or so. I did find a railroad spike under a tree, the train tracks are just on the other side of the ballfields--we used to throw rocks at them when we were really young
Had some great nostalgia and just when I was getting ready to leave I found the two quarters not far from the pool entrance.

"in 1849 the family settled here 5 miles south of Austin.
Holland West Galtin Stanley who is buried here is the daughter of the sister of Nancy Hanks, Abraham Lincoln’s mother.
