Hi everyone, Did about three hrs of hunting last weekend. Been busy so I'm just getting it up now.
It was a slow weekend but I didn't have alot of time to hunt either. I had to do some work both days and I was held up. But I always at least just sneak out for a little while.
We worked some old foundations along a road not far from my house. The area was founded in the 1850's.
The think the buildings were old glass factories. There are just to many foundations all along this hillside that is not suitable for yards or anything.
But it was the really old grey type solid block type foundations. So I knew they were old.
But we figured it could turn into a decent relic hunt. As soon as we hunted Lance pulled a nice medal from WW2. That already made it a successful hunt.
I pulled 4 wheat's and some relics. These were some very difficult conditions to hunt. All I listen for is tone i.d. Display screen for overloads and fight all the other noises. It has every treasure hunters worst conditions mixed together.
I also had the 1400 on the unit. We hit it for about 1 hr or so and called it quits.
I got 1 1907 Indian and 2 wheat's at a old grove also. We hit that for 2 hrs. I also got a nice little glass button. 3 more old marbles.
I also decided to redo a old axe head. I hammered it all down to get the orange corrosion off. Then I scrubbed it down with tooth brush soap and rinsed. Then I hit it with about 10 coats of clear coat.
This thing is ready to cut wood again. Never tried to redo anything iron so I gave it a shot. It turned out really nice to. Smooth and cold.
With Pittsburgh being the largest producing iron area. You can imagine how much iron is around here. We just throw axe heads away by the dozen.
I shouldn't do that. I might start restoring them. It doesn't take that much effort. They give a certain character to a collection.
Good luck with your hunts everyone.
