I did a little research and found a slave cabin on my grandmother's property. I had three different people give me their accounts of the family that lived there and everyone says the fellow was named "Tug" and his wife was "Sallie" and they did not have last names. The family lived in the log cabin after the Civil War and burned in the 1920s. I spent a large portion of the day collecting information but by 4pm I was standing at the foundation. I did not get to hunt long, but I did get a World War 1 general service button and a horse halter. I thought the button was a North Carolina state seal button when I first saw it in the hole. It is marked D. Evans No Attleboro Mass. This is my first world war 1 button. The halter was a solid $1.00 signal, but it was a recent drop, made by weaver. I will get back to the homesite this week so stay tuned!
