Found this very fragile "thing" and immediately my pal said "sailcloth needle" but I'm not so sure?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hi BVI Hunter; I believe your friend was right. Those needles were also used to stitch Awnings and things of that nature ok. Value : PERSONL ok. PEACE:RONB

The eye of the needle looks too big for a sail makers needle. I think what you have is a sacking needle. Used to sew up burlap bags after they were filled or to sew a patch on a hole in one. Burlap "gives" a lot more than sail cloth and you use a much larger twine to sew up bags so the eye is bigger.
