Greetings everyone,

I went out today for a couple hours with a buddy. We went to a site that was a large mansion that was built in the very early 1800s. Around 1840 the mansion was turned into a female school, and then in the 1860s was turned into an academy. It was around until the early 1900s and sat abandoned until the 1970s when it was burned. Anyway, the first find was the really cool collapsible cup, which is another first for me. The next good find was the brass nozzle that I'm guessing was on an old fire extinguisher. It appears to be unmarked. The last and best find of the day was the dog tag from 1883! I have never seen one this early and didn't even know they used them that long ago! Apparently American dog tags of this age are very rare. I'm stoked! Anyway, thanks for looking and HH!

Very cool, I like the tag and nozzle. I have found a couple of those cups (like them too) The dog tag will probably be highly collectible, congrats!

Wow, some really cool finds. Very nice.

Excellent find on the dog tag. Dog tags that early are indeed rare. One of my favorite relic digs because they have dates and Im always searching for different and earlier years. My earliest is 1919

All very Kool finds Congrats!!

You need to post that dog tag in the "Got old dog tags thread". Oddcoins will probably be able to identify the county, or town.... he'll tell you if it's the oldest known for that area....it may in fact be!....congrats on the great digs!

That's the oldest tag that I recall seeing, congrats.

Did you find that dog tag in Indiana? HH

That's pretty early. Perhaps the earliest I've seen on here.

Great find - I didn't know they made them that far back either! :icon_thumright: My oldest dog tag is a 1914.

GREAT TAG, You have some awesome finds. I found the cover to one of those collapsing cups last year and if I was home in Michigan I could give you the maker and the patent date.

But that tag is probably worth a pretty penny. Love the nozzle also.

Great tag, I know that there is a collectors group somewhere that will be very interested in that one...

Coo; finds. I like the tag and the nozzle.

Thats really cool,

That certainly is the oldest one I have ever seen posted.

Excellent relic hunt! :occasion14:
