At GW I open a $20 'cooler' to find a vintage Singer Featherweight. I knew it was worth at least 20 bucks so I took it home and looked it up. It's a 221k model from the late '60's in rare white/green with no paint nicks and a hard to find carrying case in good shape. It has the original belt that needs to be replaced, so I haven't tested it yet, but apparently these sell on the bay for $500! I was pleasantly surprised, as I know nothing about sewing machines.

Looks heavy duty. Nothing Like all the Singers i see.

You did good. I pick up every featherweight I find if the right price. The White is a much sought after one. Did you date it by the number on the bottom or are you guessing the age?

I do see a fair amount of sewing machines at the thrift stores. They don't seem to stick around very long before someone buys them.

Just guessing, a random website said white featherweights are uncommon and were made mid-late 60's. Thanks for the the serial number tip, I'll look it up!

Congratulations on the nice find! :occasion14:

I never updated this, but this sold for $500 the same day I listed it!
