Digging out a bottle pit today when this police wreath buckle came out! It’s not a true tongue and wreath (like the c.s. Buckles.) It has the belt loop keeper with the old style d shape hook like the old civil war officer plates do. The only thing I could find is that it dates to 1870-1890, but I like to have confirmation from multiple sources. The dating also fits the bottles we are digging in the pit. 1890-1920. I would love any info on this police buckle! Crazy I’d find a buckle bottle digging, and not metal detecting. But hey beggars can’t be choosey! Maybe I’ll get a big C.S buckle with the detector soon! ;)
