buckle

Found this U.S. RAU military belt buckle detecting my coworker’s yard. Apparently it’s most likely from the 1950’s-1970’s, but any other info is appreciated. Thanks for looking!

If the pictures work just wondering of the ages of these buckles and other knickknacks i found.

Detecting an old home site in a farm field getting lots of pop cans and then I found this. I haven’t cleaned it up yet. It rang up lead and is heavy. I’ve tried researching online, but can’t find any info on lead/pewter buckles. Any info is much appreciated!

Found a "new" spot this last week in the hills for Northern California. This is for me the single best day of detecting I have had. There were many more artifacts, just chose these for now.

hit up a spot behind a town hall Monday. Thought it might of been a dump at first, when i saw some broken surface glass But these are the only 2 things to come out of the small wooded area. please tell me i finally dug something from the 1700's ? i know its the smallest part of what i think it...

Seeking information about a belt buckle found near a home built soon after the Civil War in Lumpkin County, Georgia. The house was built by Jesse McDonald who was a Captain of the Blue Ridge Rifles during the Civil War. Is this buckle consistent with civil war era milita buckles?

This artifact is from a site in North Alabama that has produced artifacts from the Civil War, including three Confederate buckles, a frame and two CSA rectangles of the Army of Tennessee type. Unfortunately it is only a piece of what appears to be a buckle or plate of an oval shape. This...

I was detecting at an early 1700’s foundation in the woods and found this unusual heart shaped buckle?……well I’m not sure if it’s a buckle or what kind if that. I also found a shoe buckle frame that is similar. If anyone knows if this is a buckle or what kind please lmk.

Found this buckle frame near an historic farmhouse in Hunterdon county, NJ. The dimensions are 85mm x 50mm. There doesn't appear to be any design. Any insights as to type (shoe buckle?) and age would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I found this in my yard yesterday, not even metal detecting, I raked it up while laying some grass seed. It was laying pretty much on top of the ground so I don't think it was buried much. I tried searching for vintage buckle, vintage buckle with numbers, fire fighting buckle, vintage fire...

Hello! I went as a knight for Halloween and found this belt for part of my outfit at the thrift store. Wondering if it's silver or silver plated maybe. Says Taiwan on the back. Looks tarnished...hoping it's silver but I'm guessing if it is its probably just plated which wouldn't be worth much...

Trying to ID the lettering on this buckle hinge.

Found these while metal detecting the other day, I cant say I've ever found ones like these so any insight it appreciated. Found in Nova Scotia Canada.

Headed back to the cellar hole today, the house was used during the civil war as a headquarters/ fort. I’ve pulled bullets, eagle buttons, and other items from here. The signals are becoming few and far between. Very hard to find anything worth digging so I’ve started digging every tone no...

Digging out a bottle pit today when this police wreath buckle came out! It’s not a true tongue and wreath (like the c.s. Buckles.) It has the belt loop keeper with the old style d shape hook like the old civil war officer plates do. The only thing I could find is that it dates to 1870-1890, but...

I found this buckle piece in a field in Luxembourg. Most of the stuff I've found in this area dates to around 1650-1960. Its made of either copper or bronze. I believe it to be medieval, more specifically from 1250-1350 according to this website...

I hunted for about 4 hours at the 1896 house that I found the large cent that I posted awhile ago. Well... there is just SO MANY IRON SIGNALS!!! I didn't dig that many signals because it was hard to find a decent singal. Almost all the good signals were shallow modern pennies. I found a pretty...

Hello All, These are recent finds from the past few weeks and were all found in the same basic neighborhood of what appear to be colonial farms here in Southeastern CT. We are looking to get some opinions on what we think we see and some identifications. First, we have this pewter button...

What is this? a Buckle im guessing but what period? PLZ HELPPPPP?

Size is 1.3 inches left to right and 1 inch top to bottom.

Found this right where I found my Tombac flat button (according to commenters here). I believe it's made of brass (did not stick to my neodymium magnet) Thanks Happy Hunting

Here are a few brass items which I haven't been able to identify other than the buckle, and I was wondering if that could be Civil War. The long item with the squared end appears to have a 95 (serial number?) on it. All items found in very old sites. Any ideas?

I found this along a stream right off of the Susquehanna River in Northeast Pennsylvania. Seems like silver and looks like it had a piece in the center before. It looks like a shoe buckle to me? Any have any input or guesses on age? Btw- This is my first post here! I love exploring and looking...

Dug this cool buckle but im not sure what kind it is, any help would be appreciated.

Found in nova Scotia behind some houses that date mid to late 1700 and 1800, its 2 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide and i think made of brass. i have looked everywhere but can't seem to find this type of buckle.

So I believe this is a copper buckle bracelet, but I cant find any more information about it. It was the very last thing I cleaned and I wasn't expecting that floral pattern to pop out. I would love to know more, maybe an age range? The first buckle is a shoe buckle right? But i'm stumped on...

Can anyone identify the hallmark on this sterling belt buckle? The mark looks a little like a sideward S.

I found this buckle today where I previously found an old heel plate. I was wondering about the age and what it would have been used for.

last winter, i detected this buckle at a family member's property in rural Olympia, Washington. His house was built in the early 1920's, and previously had livestock. Could it pre-date the 1920's? (because I also found square nails which I know haven't been used since the 1890's.) I do not...

DUG NEAR SMITHFIELD, VIRGINIA Button, flattened shank and words SUPER FINE STRONG visible. I am thinking circa 1840. any ideas?????? Buckle. No idea about age. Thinking mid 1800s also, but, who knows. *Indian Head dug in a separate location and a day earlier. Indian head penny. No...

Out in the middle of nowhere found some coins and this buckle. The coins were three wheat pennies and large cent and a small cent that is thicker. I can't quite ID them now, going to try and get them cleaned. I can't wait to look some more! The day was awesome just being out but so much better...

Went out for a half hour with my son. He is only two so he lost interest pretty quick. Found pretty much all iron with a couple pull tabs. I don't mind a little old iron once in awhile. I have found quite a few harness buckles but none this large before.

Nice weather this weekend, figured I'd get out for an hour. Checked out an area that used to be farmland and now is getting ready to be developed but still empty. Hunks of metal, few saw blades and maybe a buckle? Seemed like it was the right shape and it has a notch where a latch could have...

So, a week ago I found my first buckle, a quite large and heavy (46.5 g) buckle: It wasn't quite deep because of the very hard soil. I think the pin in the buckle is made out of iron and the buckle itself is made out of copper or bronze. I also think it's of a horse strap. I'm not familiar...

[SIZE=5]On to a new site with a hand dug well, no stones in lining. Also near the site was this almost complete blue brushed ceramic platter, any help with dating would be greatly appreciated. A cast iron pot top was dug and preserved, and a few buckles. One large Equine buckle and an ORNATE...

This is a small buckle I recovered today(01.31.2017) in the Free State of Jones aka Jones County Mississippi. The property could have had people on it previous to the Civil War. The little Buckle measures 1/2" X 13/16" and appears to be made out of copper with no markings that I can find. I'd...

Not sure if this is a fob or something? It appears to be made of either a very thin brass or copper and is very light. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Piney woods on a private ranch, found these things, hoping someone can help me identify some of it!

I found this cleated buckle on an old corn farmers homestead. I am just curious if anyone recognizes it, or if one of the guys who is good at looking up old patent information could tell me a bit more about it. I can make out a few letters across the top and March 1874 on the curved parts. I...
