What kind of military insignia (maybe identity disc) is this? Can anyone please help me recognizing it. Thank you all.

I don't think it's a dog tag, as the Italians used a locket style tag (coincidentally introduced in 1915). Possibly a family made tag for a child, in the event that they got displaced?
