Hi folks! This is my first time posting on TNet. I followed this site religiously while deployed to Afghanistan and vowed to get a metal detector when I came back. I decided on the AT Pro and it sure has paid off!! Luckily, I have the luxury of hunting a WW1 site here in Ohio! As you can see, I've found a couple of buttons, a collar disc, 1892 Barber quarter, a DOG TAG which reads....George W. White USA. His service number on the back is 1987099. Sure would be nice if anyone out there could help me research him and possibly return this to his family! I've done a little research, but there sure were a ton of George W. Whites out there. There has to be a way to run his service number!? There is also this thingamajig that I have no clue about? At first I thought it was some sort of sight for a weapon? It is numbered 1734. Hopefully someone out there can help!! Those are some nice finds. I have two WWI camps on my place here in West Texas. Find the same kind of stuff out here. You should find some more coins and lots of buttons as well. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
