I picked this up within a box of WW2 item's( mostly large shells&such...BRASS!!! )and this was at bottom of box,I had it X-RAYed by local bomb squad&they said it was INERT...So my problem is should i strip the paint as it looks to have been repainted at one time.I have seen many of these and they usually are painted with red&yellow horizontal stripes. And i'm pretty sure there was NO tracer mortar rounds so i do not think it is a "different" type of mortar.I have also seen them with NO paint just metal...What would be the BEST way to strip paint? Good old paint stripper?? Or doe's ANYBODY have any ideas???
ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated!!! HAPPY HUNTING ALL:thumbsup:

Never seen one of those... Pretty cool find! As far as removing the paint, I'd think a good gel stripper would do the job just fine. I'd want to be 100% sure it's not original paint first though

The brass fuze also unscrews, it has reverse threads, turn it to the right to unscrew, and wrap a piece of leather or something on it to prevent scratches or gouges if you use pliers to remove it.

it should be empty inside

spray on paint stripper will work, just dont leave it on the full amount of time or it will take off the older / original paint, and use a old rag to wipe it off

the original color should be black paint with red & yellow bands and Japanese markings
