Thanks! That is valuable and practical info for X-70 users (me). I have been trying to sort out various signal strengths and meter readings on my X-70. I'll paste this on the back of my pinpointer. Thanks for sharing.............

friday I found nine wheats, all were either 34 or 36, they locked on pretty well
the two silver dimes I found both came in at 38-40, one was a merc, the other was a deep seated liberty. Even clad dimes show as 38 on mine.

I have a question.... if I take a pull tab and scan it with the X-TERRA 70 and discriminate it will rings still show up giving a solid tone? Or will I pass them by? I have heard how pull tabs bounce on the scale and rings hit solid. Will the 70 still pull in rings or will it mute them? My mom wants a metal detector now. I was going to just give her the ace 250 I got and upgrade, But I don't want to spend $490 more for a 70(compaired to the price of a new ace for her) if it can not help me find rings while cutting thru the million tabs. Honest answers only from people who have tried it please. If it is going to be just like the ace pulling tabs, I will stick with the ace and just suffer with shallow finds only. I have not found a ring with the ace yet, but I have dug my share of tabs trying.

Other than that I love the 70. I watched both vids on it and it looks like a great unit. I plan on hitting the beach next summer and maby a trip out west for a week nugget hunting making the 70 a great unit to look at .

Thanks

well I will tell you this, if you don't swing your coil over a ring you will not find one. You can dig tabs all day and if there are no rings there, you will not get one. I found 11 rings this year with my ace250 before I got my x-70, Every ring I found except one was at homesites. I only found ONE ring this year at a park and it was a junk ring. At homesites I am more prone to dig everything, because you do not see many pull tabs at old houses. plus if it is a foil signal at 4" or deeper I always dig it at homesites.
