The button is a reproduction and it is a thinner brass than a real button and it is a high conductor and 54khz is a high frequency which makes it lean towards hitting low conductors like gold. When i put the button between the nails then the nails causes the vdi to get pulled down and makes it a lower conductor which allows the 54 khz to hit it with no problem.
