the 1842 braided hair i dug a few days ago I knew had some detail under the baked on black crud & today i was lookin at it under the loop and started scrubbin it with hot water and dish soap.I saw the liberty come through nicely with no pitting on surface (which is unusual) & decided to hot perxoxide it.the black wouldn't flake off like most coins do,so i worked it with the toothbrush and kept ploppin it in the peroxide & scrubbing.
I was very pleased at the way it came out.i never had much luck diggin a good braided hair but this one is gorgeous.thanks for lookin

Wow, that is absolutely beautiful! Nice job.

Looks great! Nicely done

Nice clean up, a little work pays off. Very Nice.

Splendid, beautiful, amazing! This is the second gorgeous large cent I've seen on t-net today! Congrats! Andi

Amazing copper! Cant believe theres no pitting or ''coin acne''. Great clean up.

Is it just me, or does the date always seem off center on these little beauties? NICE COIN

Nice work! One thing I've learned with cleaning is slow, steady, repeat and patience, as you've demonstrated.

Sweet LC,good work on the cleaning.allways enjoy reading your post.

WOW!!! Great job cleaning up that beauty!!
That is probably the best cleaning job I have seen on a LC
considering how much crude was crusted on the surface.

Amazing! I think the baked on crude protected the coin without corroding it.

Beautiful large cent that cleaned up very well!!

WOW.....to say the least. That puppy looks like she just came out of a pocket in about 1843. She was hiding just to show off for around 160 years.:icon_thumleft:

You gave that lady a complete makeover--she's beautiful!

That coin is a beauty ! Congrats
Glen

Nice job, Dave! That Large Cent is gorgeous. I would have been so afraid to use the hot perxoxide, but you had such a nice, unpitted surface to begin with!
Nick

Wow that thing looks brand new!! I have ruined to many coins trying to clean them, now i do the bare minimum when cleaning the dirt off. Congrats on your results!!!
