Yay I found something I didn't loose

Unlike all the clad coins I find in my yard. This looks to be a blank round that the head stamp dates to 1942. The slug is copper jacketed. There is striations on it but it apparently missed its target. Not valuable but kinda cool I thought. My 6yr old calls everything we find treasure. I guess that's really the pay off, hanging out with my kiddo's. I don't know who gets more exited to dig me or the kids. image.webp

The real treasure is hanging out with the family

cool finds happy hunting

Its the same with my kids! They love it!

Cool finds! that would appear to be a blank based on the extended tip collar.

It is hard to tell with no size reference but that casing looks to be a 50 cal. brass. Nice find and great time with the kids.

Does look like a 50 cal.way to go.

The shell is indeed a brass blank. It's a 30.06 according to what I googled on the head stamp. M1 Garand from what I gathered.

the fact that your six year enjoys getting out finding treasures with you is priceless.times spent hunting and fishing with my dad are the memories i have today many years after my father has passed.

Yep my grand dad was a workaholic who didn't do a lot with my dad. Pop changed that with me, I carry it on with my kids. I include them in everything. It never ceases to amaze me that my son at 6 asks to do things we did when he was 3. They retain so much I just hope I pass along some good to them.
