Yellow What's It?

I'm putting this item here on behalf of an acquaintance. It appears to be some sort of cable attachment, but it has been shown to electrical workers and riggers and they don't recognise it.
It is approximately 130mm in length and 80mm in diameter, with a slightly larger diameter in the middle.
There are no markings at all on any of the pieces. The main body seems to be cast iron and the balled insert some sort of sintered metal.
Any help will be much appreciated :headbang:
Cheers, Mike

Re: Yellow What's It?

Dang, Mike, I've seen it before, but can't remember where. Maybe if I can get through the next 2 weeks of bathroom remodeling, my mind will be back! Breezie

Re: Yellow What's It?

it's an exterior grade construction plug, used for carrying 100+ amp loads.
you're missing the actual plug part which should have 4 prongs, 1 red, 1 black
1 white and one bare or ground

Awesome! Thanks Sniffer :hello2:
I have tried to find a pic of a complete one - but no luck. Any suggestions as to who might make them? so I can check their site.
Cheers, Mike

Re: Yellow What's It?

Mike, I'm wrong about that one. I did a little more checking and it looks more like a cable stay for a power
pole. you know, the ones that hold the post from moving, I'll look around and see if I can find one

Re: Yellow What's It?

with the high visibility yellow it looks like a transit part and that ball thing has to move 180 degrees and has slots for attaching something. I don't think electrical part though, it must be mass produced so you should be able to pin it down :dontknow:
Broken Knee
in looking again maybe stop light related for hanging over the rd.

here Mike, this link will take you to a site that, while it's not exact will show you what I mean

http://www.stateelectric.com/rescenter/files/utility/pole_line_hardware_product_sheet.pdf

toward the bottom in the middle you'll see a guy wire, follow it down and you'll see it
Thanks Sniffer - had your info confirmed just today by an engineer mate.
Thanks everyone for your input :headbang:

Mike

Sorry BK. Confirmed as (part of) a cable tensioner for poles.
