Yesterday's finds from BYU

Back Yard University that is ;D. I made you look though!!

I have pretty much cleaned out the entire front and back yards, of anything other than iron, with my BH 1100. It is a rare occasion when I get a signal. Now that I have finally gotten my BH 3300 back from repairs (two freakin months!!!!) I have again began to run rampant in the yards. I have already dug a few pennies and a couple of nickles that the 1100 never touched. It just goes to show that better machines do better work. I can only imagine what a deep diving Whites or Garrett will do for my treasure pile.

While my 3300 can easily hit 8", 10" is fairly common. The signals get a little weak on the normal swing. Any lame signals I get recieve slow passes until it cleans up and the ID gets strong. Then I dig. That's what yesterday was about. Nothing great in the way of eye-popping finds, but, without my 3300 I couldn't found these.

It is my oldest wheat yet at 1926. The next oldest was 1928. I am now up to 35 wheaties for the year just from my yard alone and numerous nickles!!!

Thanks for looking.

Last year I bought a detector from Radio Shack. I knew nothing of the hobby, just wanted to try it. I kept it for a week and it was too confusing. I had it in my head that this was a hobby of great patience and skill(turns out I was right). One that I decided was not worth spending that much effort on at that time. I dug up about 30 wheats out of the back yard with that thing. I got really frustrated, because, I assumed there just had to be something better back there or I was doing it all wrong or the machine was just too complicated to understand. Additionally I did not get the book with the machine. As we can all imagine this just created a whole new level of complication to the matter. I decided to return the machine and was happier with the $130 than I was w/ the detector. This was all sparked because my neighbor and I had the cub scouts up at his mom's house. There are concrete stumps in the ground where the old house was built. We took his Treasure Ace 300 out there and he found a buffalo nickel. It was ON then!! I ran all over the woods with that thing digging up junk. I had finally decided to clear my mind and get interested. I am glad I did.

All those wheat pennies sure got on my nerves in the old collection can so I just dumped them into circulation with the rest of the clad. I don't even remember getting all the dates from them. Technically speaking the count is up to around 60 some odd wheats. Now I could kick myself in the backside. Oh well. Live and learn, right?
