Just got a chance to post..
Great day yesterday with the hillbillies. .
Seems like the south won!!! Lol.
Found a few artifacts. .and buttons. .
4th quarter 3rd down..And bang!!
When I pulled out of plug thought it said 1794..You could see it and read it...was wrong...Now its almost a blank disc..
But I can tell its the draped bust ..and cant get a date off it..hoping it was the 1802 cohen 1..
Wish full thinking...lol
Has anyone seen the hole punch before??
I dont believe its one though..Its made of lead...any help would be great. .
Thanks for looking George

That's awesome! Any chance that lead piece was a writing utensil?

I've used a bullet to write with in a pinch. I suppose if the paper was coarse enough it would work ok...

Not bad finds for a philly boy, I understand a thing or two about blank discs from yesterday!

I happened to be standing there when he dug the 1/2 cent because it literally was the very first target when we got there. He got out of the truck and walked over near a bush, swung and I heard the e-trac screaming.....I believe he even said.....this one is a good one. If you've never dug a 200 year old copper, you might not believe it, but when they first come out of the ground, you can wipe the dirt away, see details and then in a matter of a few minutes, the air will dry the coin out ( I suppose it's oxidation ) and dates, busts, everything can be lost.

was wondering when you would post, you still found some unusual things, nice and old

That lead piece was " sharpened " with a knife just like you'd do to a pencil. George bent it to show how soft is. At first I thought it was some sort of punch.

Nice finds Vino. I think that I see a cuff link in that pic too.

Awesome DB! You always make me jealous. Congrats.

PS: Glad to see that "the young man" got his KG. You make dreams come true...

Great hunt! Awesome colonial site you have there.

Old Dude that's the reason I put some moist dirt in my keeper case and put all my good finds in it. It's comfy in its environment and important to keep it in that environment til you get it home and can do what you need to to clean and stabilize. Old coppers do not like to be pulled from there homes. Keep em in the dirt fellas! I promise it works

Any hunt where a half cent makes an appearance is a great hunt. Congrats!

George, seems like,a upheaval of cool finds, like a rock frost. Your a great guy sharing all those spots with all us guys on the site. It kind of gave me a new meaning to, "you make your own luck"

Tom, I just realized something.....I was standing right beside him when he dug that cuff link pair too! Do you think I might be good luck for him? Maybe he should keep me around, lol!
Actually, I told him in a thread before that I'd like to shake his hand just so maybe some of his luck would rub off on ME, lol.

Vino you made my dreams come true lol
You could've at least planted one with a date lol

Omg really dave?? Lol

Very nice buddy! I'm yet to find a half cent. I absolutely love cufflinks and feel like they're a fairly tough thing to find. Those half cents don't show up often...except for you :-)
