Hello everybody! I got out for a few hours today, the heat & humidity prevented me from staying longer. When it stops being fun I leave! Anyways, I went back to the 1883 house that I've had a lot of success at in the past. This place has been hunted numerous times by me & friends I've brought along. Needless to say, the easy stuff is long gone. All I found today was iron (minus the brass on the lock, shotgun shells & trash)! The M W & Co lock is really cool, love finding the old locks(too bad it wasn't whole). The axe head is neat, I've never found one bent & busted like this. I wonder what it hit to make this happen? I also (as usual) found some pieces that I cannot immediately ID. I'd appreciate help from you experts out there, its always appreciated. I thought these items were interesting enough to hold onto. I also found the very common iron ring. It's interesting that I am currently in the process of preserving my iron relics & that's all I found today, more work ahead I guess! I learned a great tip from Buckleboy on preserving iron relics with apple cider vinegar and will post my results when complete (I'm hoping the 18thc lock I found last weekend will turn out good) As always thanks for looking & HH!

I will call you Iron Enigma. Not sure what you've got there, but you worked hard for them for sure.

Very nice finds! I love the door lock with cover. That is a cool find. The pic #5 is part of a cog. Two parts are broken off. Can't remember what it goes to tho. Killed that brain cell long ago. Sorry. WH. HH

Thanks for the help, I see it now that you say that, it would have originally been round. The lock is actually the front of a padlock. Here's a pic of a whole one I found online. mkOW0OItIvG1Y5GRS6nsRmA.webp

I would have to call you Big Iron, thats some cool stuff.

Nice finds mangum.

Interesting finds. "Lock Magnet" might be another name for you this week lol. I'm looking forward to seeing how that huge padlock turns out after the vinegar.
