I used to hunt
50 cent rolls in high school. My mom would get a couple of rolls and give me and my little brother 2 or three coins a day to take to school with us. I would keep the silvers. never did it again after high school. 15 years later I ended up working behind a bar at a Casino in Tunica Mississippi and right next to my bar was a couple of banks of 50 cent slot machines, unlike the dollar machines , they used actual US coins. Reading all of these post I cant help but think that I let a lot of silver slip away in the year and half I was in tunica. My casino alone must have had ten or twenty of those machines and there were 7 or 8 other casinos in Tunica. I don't know if they had 50 cent machines cause I wasn't a slot jockey. My casino alone I could have gone through thousands of dollars in coins in an hour or so.
simpleyby putting a few hundred dollar bills
in first machine ,cashing out
then feeding it into the next and cashing out and repeat till I had hit them all. Try again a week later. I don't know if any casinos still use coins. oh well. Treasurenet has giving me lots of things to think about over the last year.

Wow - we must be related.. I can see the Mickey Mantle and Yogi Barra pieces on the spokes of my Schwin. I alway said it was because of people like me (us) items are valuable and collectible today.. I watch the antique road shoe on occasions and some of the items that pass thru I can comment that I had one of those. Fun to think back. Enjoy the day..

oh qwassokea, I wish you had said that those slot machines spit out silver coins like they are counterfeit so it is almost impossible to find silver and make feel a little better HEEHEE!

(back then the Hollywood casino had a bunch of 50 cent machines hooked up to a progressive jackpot that stayed at 50k for years. I think there must have been at least 20 machines on that progressive alone, the machines were next to the safari bar which is the long bar at the back of casino, if you go to tunica you might call them and see if they still have them, but I kind of doubt they do but I don't know)
