In order to tell the difference between my finds pouch and the trash pouch. :dontknow:

But, they're talking about snow and cold again so I just had to take one more walk before
it cuts loose. :dontknow:

Just a short one, but worth it. At least I'll be able to weather the storm now. ;)

Even when I get screwed in this place,
at least they do it with a bit of class. LOL
Look at that fancy piece! ;)

Another old spigot handle.

I thought I'd done it again with this one.

2015 (88).webp

I could see a rounded edge and what looked like
a hole.

So close! :)

Did get this lil button. Neat design. I figure public use.
On the back that isn't a piece of grass, it still has some thread on it! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

That fancy piece you got there is a "split bolt" used in making a connection between electrical grounding wires.

Nice finds. All are interesting to me.

Very interesting finds! The button has some nice detail.

Whadi,
To quote the famous philosophical rapper, Nitch-E:

"I dig, therefore, I am."

To give Old Man Winter the finger and reclaim what is rightfully yours, there is the victory. And yes, you found some cool stuff man! What if your two-holed button was part of an antique string and button toy known as a Whirlygig? Sub 8-)

Absolutely not! I refuse to be associated with that idiocy. I have enough of my own. ;)

Thanks!

Would a whirlygig come in different sizes? That 4 makes it even more interesting to me. :)

Cool little button!! And like said before a neat design....You always come home with unusual treasures...

I'm going on my first land hunt in over 10 years tomorrow, wish me luck..

All the best, of course. But, you better get it in quick! Gonna get REAL cold this weekend!

We'll all be waiting!

Great looking button. The hem weight is a nice find as well. Congrats.

Yup more snow and cold nice finds bud...

It's so cold up here, we can walk across the river and NOT hunt there too!

Nice finds Gary, good walk.

Well, just polish the ice and that way you can walk around and look through like a glass bottomed boat. Then, just mark an "X"
on the ice where you want to look in the Spring. ;)

I'm going to move to the southern US in the winter just so I can detect.......is that so wrong?

Now that's what I call finesse! You snuck one in on winter! WTG!!!!
3 still usable items, nice!
On the 2 hole round item, kinda fancy for a hem weight don't ya think? The edges are grooved and so are the holes.
What type metal do you think it's made of?
The other button is ornate and a piece of thread still on it! Nice!

I won't tell you what the weather is doing here, but they have called in the national guard!
I may need to relearn how to dig come spring, going from snow shovel to digging tool!
Congrats on getting out there and finding! Awesome!

The round thing isn't magnetic and it has a fair amount of heft to it, but not quite as heavy as I
would expect for lead. The coloring seems slightly off to me also. I know lead usually turns white around 100 years.
I don't think I've seen a piece of lead older than 200 years though. Maybe? :icon_scratch:
As big as it is, I'd suspect it would have to be a pretty big hem! LOL

Don't worry about the weather. There's a good side. At least you now have experience in finding a car
with your detector. ;)

Thanks!

Could it be pewter?
That car finding ability just may come in handy in the next week or so!

Honestly, I don't know how to tell if something is pewter without hurting it. I'm afraid it might be the only one
ever made and was known to be made for Martha Washington. Ya know? Priceless! ;)
