You call one of the local armored car courier services to inquire about buying boxes of halves directly from them. A "friend" of mine tried this today, and was told that they cannot do this. That they only handle coins from institutions with a federal reserve bank account, or something like that.
This "friend" also verified that when coins are picked up by the courier, they go into a "pool" of coins and are all mixed together. Thus, they do not roll the exact coins they pick up and re-deliver those same exact coins to the bank. So the notion that buying from your dump bank is not going to yield keepers seems to be a false one. I guess you could still get the tellers mad by buying one day and dumping the next.
