I went thrift store hunting tonight and for some odd reason I took a bit of time scanning carefully at the title covers hoping to see if I could find something interesting. I pulled this one out and seeing no bar-code, I thought, this is old. First addition it says 1966. With that I looked it up online and saw the one on Amazon with an unbelievable price on it for the paperback edition. I did notice the marked down price on this edition, so it could be a first addition 2nd or 3rd state. The other listing I found was on eBay with still a hefty price on it. The book itself made me recall that time in the mid-1960s when Bigfoot was all the rave. We took a family road trip in 1968 from Des Moines to California and up the west coast and finally into Canada all the way across it east to Winnipeg then back down to home in Iowa. On that trip we camped in Washington State and there were Bigfoot signs everywhere I remember. I even went out in the forest for a hike thinking all the time, what if I run into Bigfoot 👻. That was one spooky hike, so I didn't venture to far.

I would say YES, depending on condition it is worth $300-$400. Do a search on ebay for sold copies.

Nice find! :icon_thumright:

I did do a quick look on ebay and it said zero results, but also said something like no matches. Did you see some listed in the sold category?

Quite a few, actually. Here are two matching your edition:

Nice find1 Dulce!

Was it a non-profit thrift store? If it was, and you sell that find for a couple of hundred, please think about going back and donating something.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo

I would believe the price is right!
Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin's video camera film of a Bigfoot in 20th October 1967 was 1 year after this book was written, but that film set the cryptozoologist's world on fire.
Although suspicions were cast on the film most say it is authentic.
Collectors will be very interested with any and all materials available... and once a Bigfoot is captured...the price will only go up!

Sure thing Dizzy, I guess I missed by putting just a partial description in the search. The copy I have is like the one that sold for $150. You see in the lower right corner the original price of $2.95 is X'd out and lowered t0 $1.95

It was at a Goodwill store. I do take donations when I have them to each store we have here in my community in an alternating way. I just so happened to take some stuff to this Goodwill a week ago. I first went to drop off the items I had at the ARC, but some fella had a trailer load of stuff being unloaded in front of me and I decided not to wait, so I went to the Goodwill.

Huge difference between what people think something is worth and what people are willing to pay for it.

Sometimes that is the case and thank you for bringing that to our attention.

This thread was interesting when I read it a couple days ago, thanks for sharing unique finds like this, good to learn what else to look for ,
Inspired me today to pick up a couple interesting books. Unfortunately not as valuable. One was very similar topic though, yeti/ sasquatch etc..

Thrift stores are great to find books. Indeed some can be rare and valuable. I do see often folks scanning the bar-codes looking for under valued books I'm sure they list for sale. I picked this one up yesterday by Bill O'Reilly. (I never knew he was a high school history teacher before)... I read his take on Daniel Boone this morning and just finished a bike ride and will read next chapter on Davey Crockett. After I'm gonna take a nice afternoon nap. This book was only 5 bucks.

Nice interesting book, congrats.
I find church garage sale events have good books always. No pesky thrift store stickers to ruin the covers /jackets. Also not picked through. I mostly ignore books with the barcodes. The older books pre 1970 have none.

I was in our local public library to pick up some childrens' books to share in a neighborhood "Little Library." The lady who made and operates it said she is always looking for books for kids.

The library has an open shelf with many books - two for $1. I waited and waited while a lady used her phone to scan the bar code on each book for kids. You know many of them are skinny, so it took some time to peruse each one.

Now, she was there before me, so it wasn't my place to say or do anything except wait or leave. I fully understand that. But the amount of time she spent scanning fifty cent books...

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo

Did you happen to check out if any had actually sold on ebay?

I did after DizzyDigger posted what he found on completed ebay sales on his post #4 of this thread. One in worn condition copy sold at $150. and another in finer condition sold at $490.
