I am really into weight and a detector that is balanced and not difficult to swing over long periods...

But to answer your question, I would like an Explorer / E-trac in an X-terra body.

And for every other user to be using a White's or Garrett machine.

I would suspect it's the link that says "LATEST NEWS" in big capital letters just for you. It took me about 2.3 seconds. Here is an excerpt just for you-
Anyway, I am "still" looking for that very lightweight, easy to use detector. All I want or need is All-Metal, Discrmination, Ground Balance and it should look like the "Troy" models....very small control box, and with adjustable cuff. Don't need a meter, and prefer what used to be the standard, seven inch coil. Oh, and please use knobs/switches and offer cordless headphones...they are fantastic (Thank you White's).

Okay, now that I've pissed off most all my manufacturing friends....what do YOU think?

Thank you for the link to your website, being a newbie to metal detecting
helps me catch up on the history and learn quite a few things.

You made a mention on your site about folks becoming lazy with the
technology advances:

"Next came computerized detectors with LCD readouts. The White's Eagle was the first, and it again was high tech. Numerical readouts, target ID's spelled out....what more could you ask for. Then everyone jumped on the bandwagon, and with the computer age upon us, we were into new territory. Today? Pretty much every brand of detector is computerized, and yes we are the better for it, except for one thing. We have become lazy. We have become dependent on technology. We have become robots in the field, dependent on meters, touch pads, and other technological advances.

I know there are many of you who feel differently, and perhaps you are right. I could well be from the old school of thinking, and out of touch. I also do not want you think I don't take advantage of today's advances. I do. I want that extra edge, that extra inch or two, and I want that new and improved target identification. I just want them to be there for me when I turn on the detector. I have to also add that as I have grown older, I like to spend more of my in-the-field time digging targets as opposed to analyzing them."

Agree totally. Technology is a wonderful thing but make me wonder if we are becoming lazy by depending on it a bit to much.:)

Manual ground balance and Threshold.Frequency shift,Easy to pinpoint with,Breaks down compact enough i can put it in a pack.

I have owned most all detector brands, and have hunted with friends who owned the others. So I think I know what I would like to have in a detector.
1)12'' coil with an 8'' coil in the center
2)a switch to select which one I wanted to use
3)PI and VLF circuit
4) a switch to select which I wanted to use
5)A VDI meter which tells metal composition(copper,silver,gold,lead)
6)size and depth meter to 36''
7)selectable frequency from 1KHZ to 25 KHZ
8)a waterproof housing
9)removable control unit and shoulder harness
10)wireless headphones
11)GPS
