Any Ford guys know WHY certain model Mustang is called Fox body ???

What is fox referring to??

If the critter, who decided to do that?

I've been curious, and can't seem to find the source info...

Thanks
rmptr

Just a designation that the manufacturers give a particular body style. You'll also here designations for the chassis or "platform" as well. I'm sure you remember the futuristic Chrysler "K" cars...

A 1954 Willys Wagon with a 350 Chevy engine and a slush-0-matic tranny. (My dad was an auto mechanic, so I picked up some of the lingo from him.) It would get 65 miles per gallon - we're talking DREAM machine, right? It would be all decked out for desert driving and it would hold all my treasure hunting gear and a big ice chest. And whoever rode "shotgun" would actually have to hold a shotgun. It would have 16 inch wheels with 8 ply tires. It would be painted in desert camo and have tinted windows. The air conditioning would use freon. It would have a skid plate, a brush guard, lots of lights, and a winch. It couldn't go all that fast, but it would be easy to drive over the gravel roads in my favorite locations.

Something like this (but with a desert camo paint job):

I wanna hang with you girl !

Hey Sam,
Welcome to you as well,
Hope all your huns are good ones.

Hey DD,

Great spread on the K-car!

I had one for a short while... LoL! What a pile!
Still, it functioned well enough for the basic short run transport I needed at the time.

Still curious how Ford came to choose "Fox" body...
Someone made the decision, for a reason.

But dreams are never-ending.....right?

So............. here's my latest "Dream Car":

Yep, that's the ZR-1...the American "Ferrari"

The ZR1 is the fastest and most powerful production car ever made by an
American manufacturer. It has a 638-horsepower V8 engine and can accelerate
from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds—in first gear.

I suppose I'd enjoy the heck out of a 1966 AC Cobra Roadster 427.
Couldn't force myself to get stuck on just one choice, though.

That's a nice looking vette Dude!

A friend had one he inherited. The wheels were green... Magnesium turns green if not polished.
Looked just like the ones on your vette... but they look plated.

My friend's wife made him sell the vette.
Otherwise, she was a good wife, seemed to me.

Years back I think they got 7 or 8 for it.
Probably worth 60 or 70 now.

I'm a muscle car kind of guy. I sold my dream car a fews years back and now I regret it. It was a 1970 Mustang Mach I 3 speed manual. Yes thats right, a factory 351w 3 speed. A lot of people call their 1970 Mach's unique, but I have yet to see another that came factory with a 3 speed manual. In fact until I showed the Marti report everyone said it was not factory.

Right now I've got a 1994 Camaro I'm restoring that is a sleeper. All 4 gen Camaros came with the V6 but this one has been fully converted to the LT1 aluminum head Corvette engine. By far the fastest car I've ever driven.

Nice Mach 1, Digger!

I had a friend with a 3spd manual in a 1970 GTO back then.
Something rare here in CA.
He had brought it out from Louisiana.
