Has anybody checked out the value of some of your older treasure hunting books lately?

Just came across my copy of Waren Merkitch's --BeachComber's Handbook..1976
Found one copy for sale at $75.00....original cost was $4.00. ::)

The intro. in that book is by Karl von Mueller...and its a great collector's item.

Not for Sale....just wondering if anyone else has prices on other older books.

No I haven't checked prices yet. I have a ton of the old books in my library and many new ones by CJC on the Sovs and Excals.

I built one of Merkitch's beach dragger's and still have it. Even used an old Whites sign for the blade. Later I modified it with a cam axle so it shakes the dry sand out as I drag it behind a ATV on the county beaches during clean ups every morning. I get paid to do this too. Hey, somebody has to do something to keep the beaches clean.

Sandman,

I thought Merkitch's dragger was a hoot, in the old days. If you've tried/modified it...to pull by motorized vehicle, I would love to talk with you and/or see what you've got....

Here's an old oyster dredge...that I've been kidding folks about rigging up for dragging on the dry/wet sand beaches with my 4x4....problem here is....plenty of seashells....what you think?

Of course, the dredge does not have catch basket/net in that photo. :D :D
